Azerbaijan-Kazakhstan trade grows 38.7% in 2024, driven by agricultural exports

The bilateral trade between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan from January to October 2024 showcased a significant uptick, with the trade turnover escalating to 393 million 832 thousand US dollars, as per the data from the State Customs Committee, repoted fresh plaza.This represents a 38.7% increase from the previous year, with a notable rise observed in both export directions. Specifically, Azerbaijan’s exports to Kazakhstan experienced a 23.2% growth, reaching 107 million 747 thousand dollars, while Kazakhstan’s exports to Azerbaijan surged by 45.6%, totaling 286 million dollars.
Within this trade exchange, the agri-food sector played a pivotal role, particularly in the export of fruits and vegetables from Azerbaijan to Kazakhstan. The exported commodities included a variety of fresh produce such as potatoes, apples, pears, apricots, forest hazelnuts, cherries, strawberries, and persimmons. These items underscore the diversity and richness of Azerbaijan’s agricultural exports, contributing significantly to the bilateral trade volume. This segment of trade underlines the agricultural capabilities and the potential for further growth in the agri-food trade between the two countries. The overall trade activities between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan constituted 1% of Azerbaijan’s total trade turnover, which amounted to 39 billion 378.7 million US dollars in the first ten months of the current year, with non-oil exports reaching 2 billion 807.5 million US dollars.
